This is Garbage Day

lake effect finally shuts down  as an area of high pressure temporarily builds overhead.  Today will feature a blend of sun and clouds with highs in the low and mid 20s.
Clouds thicken Thursday night with scattered snow showers possible heading through Friday morning.  Temperatures on Friday will climb into the 30s.
Saturday will be mild and unsettled with periods of rain and highs around 50 or better. Temperatures will hold in the 40s Sunday through Tuesday before colder air works in by midweek."

YESTERDAY

At around 4:00 the sun was shining on a busy West Main Street ....

........... and on Sangerfield center.

Although there was ice on the Sangerfield River ...

..... and the pond next to Madison Street ....

....... some fields were completely bare ...

........... and big patches of lawn showed in front of the Schoolhouse Apartments ....

........... Memorial Park School .....

............. and many residences like that of the Upcrafts, on West Bacon Street, where Christmas Lights still glowed.

It was a different story out in Alden, New York, however, at the home of Walter "Junior" Bartlett, who wrote:

"Well, the freeze 6 below is coming to an end with 50’s in the forecast for Saturday. Anyone have a used boat ?...  Went to look out the living room window this a.m. and low and behold there was a two foot drift of snow hanging down from the gutter staring me in the face. Outside is a Beautiful wonderland all dressed in white and is a sight to behold. Have a Great Day , I am.  Bart/Jr"

Thanks for that view, Bart!
