It's Garbage Day
Minus - 2 degrees and falling at 7:00 a.m.
Snow stopped falling before midnight.

I just jabbed a 12" ruler into the snow on my front porch and it sank to the depth of about 9" - but that includes four or five inches that had been there before storm "Hercules" arrived, so our accumulation in this storm has not been that great, at all.
Of course what happens here in the Hollow doesn't really reflect what happens "up" in the Village or out in the country, but it appears,  from what I can see and from the lack of remarks in E-mail or on Facebook, that this weather "event" is being considered "just Winter as usual" in Waterville!

The morning forecast from WKTV:

"*A wind chill warning is in effect for the Adirondacks tonight and early tomorrow*
Light snow gradually comes to an end this morning, followed by sunshine.  About 6-12" of snow fell from this event since it started Wednesday night.  Roads will be snow covered today, but in better shape than yesterday.  Bitterly cold temperatures this afternoon will be the big story, with highs near zero.  With a west wind between 10-20mph, it will feel more like -10 to -20 in town, -30 in the Adirondacks.  Dress warm!
Increasing clouds tonight, with temperatures quickly dropping into the teens below zero.  After midnight, temperatures rise.
After a frigid start Saturday with temperatures below zero, a moderating trend is likely by Saturday afternoon and Sunday before another blast of cold and snow arrives early next week."

The WCS Fitness Center was Closed
last evening and may well still be closed this morning.

I didn't leave the house yesterday and probably won't today, either, so I rely on phone calls, E-mail and Facebook to tell me what's REALLY going on in the Waterville World!

More when it happens.

Great thanks to Jody Hildreth for sharing this photograph of a Snowy Owl taken about a week ago near Sauquoit.

Welcome Back to my long-time friend, a Carolina Wren who seems to prefer wintering in Waterville instead of flying South.

Have a good day everyone!
