It's 14 degrees and snowing at 6:20 a.m.

The WKTV morning Weather Forecast:
"*Winter storm warnings and advisories in effect for CNY through Friday morning*
*A wind chill warning is in effect for the Adirondacks tonight and early tomorrow*
Widespread light to moderate snow will fly throughout the entire day and night.  Roads are expected to be slippery across the entire area.  Gusty winds this evening will create poor visibility in open areas and hilltop locations.  Highs only in the low teens.
This steady and light to moderate snow will gradually accumulate through the day with several inches of snow expected before the system leaves town by early Friday.  Here's a look at the snowfall forecast for this event:"

"Temperatures bottom out on Friday, with highs near zero in town.  Overnight lows fall WELL below zero Friday night.
Less cold weather returns for the weekend, with another blast of cold and snow early next week."

Work on the new "approach" at St. Bernard's Catholic Church had progressed sufficiently to allow parishioners to use the front entryway on Christmas Eve. Temporary stair railings and lighting will be improved as soon as weather allows.

A new sign in the Park:
The January tradition of Fish Fries at the American Legion will begin this Friday!

The first of the Christmas discards have arrived at the curb.

Snow depth in fields and woodlands ....

FOR THE RECORD

*****

About the 2014 Masthead

Clearly, I've been watching too many teasers for the new season of "Downton Abbey," which starts this coming Sunday on PBS, and which put me in the mood to use architectural reflections of Waterville's own golden years.

When I searched the internet for an appropriately "Victorian" font, one in particular stood out -  it's called "Phaeton."

The original phaeton was an especially elegant horse-drawn - then horseless - carriage, probably just the sort of automobile that Mssrs. Putnam, Conger, Brainard et al would have driven a hundred years ago.

*****

I don't know how much touring around I'll be doing, today, considering the weather, but if I hear or see anything out-of-the-ordinary (it IS Winter, after all!) I'll let you know!

In the meantime,
Have a good day, everyone.

School is already closed, of course, but to check for other Closings and Cancellations, click HERE or HERE.
