The Weather Forecast from TWCNY:

"Beautiful Start to the Week, Next Chance for Rain Not Till Thursday.

High pressure will continue to dominate our weather with very pleasant conditions the next few days.  Today will be sunny and warmer with highs well into the 70s.  Tonight will be clear and not as chilly with lows in the mid 50s.  Areas of valley fog will develop late.  Tomorrow will be mostly sunny with highs well into the 70s.  Wednesday will bring more of the same with a breeze picking up out of the south.
Our next chance for showers and storms will arrive early Thursday as strong cold front swings through.  This will be followed by much cooler and overall "fall" type weather for the end of the
week and into the weekend."

FULL MOON TONIGHT

Full Corn Moon or Full Harvest Moon – September This full moon’s name is attributed to Native Americans because it marked when corn was supposed to be harvested. Most often, the September full moon is actually the Harvest Moon, which is the full Moon that occurs closest to the autumn equinox. In two years out of three, the Harvest Moon comes in September, but in some years it occurs in October. At the peak of harvest, farmers can work late into the night by the light of this Moon. Usually the full Moon rises an average of 50 minutes later each night, but for the few nights around the Harvest Moon, the Moon seems to rise at nearly the same time each night: just 25 to 30 minutes later across the U.S., and only 10 to 20 minutes later for much of Canada and Europe. Corn, pumpkins, squash, beans, and wild rice the chief Indian staples are now ready for gathering. The Farmers Almanac.

Views from the Blog Car at land level.

The weather was drizzly on Saturday, but that didn't stop carpentry progress at Merri-Rose.......

............. and sometime during the week more paint was applied to this Sanger Avenue home - formerly the Zirkles'.

Had you noticed the very elegant "painted lady" trim on the 19th century Buell residence located behind the BusinessWare Office?

Finally, construction has begun on a new home right at the very top of Sanger Hill!
A road sign next to the driveway - just about across the road from the driveway to the Sanger Mansion - reads "Stedman's Knob."  Oh, what a view!

The Trumpet Trees next to the old church on "Maiden Lane" are filled with huge blossoms ....

................ and the Sunflowers behind the barn at Don and Sharon Brown's home on White Street appear (according to Don) to be
"on steroids."

Many of us have been waiting, and NOW it's time to take a ride south on Route 12 as far as Gorton Lake Road.  Then head East toward Stockwell Center, and enjoy the sight of acres and acres of sunflowers!

In case you wondered .......

Throughout the countryside around the Village, fields are filled with wildflowers -  you'll find several varieties of Goldenrod, pink Joe Pye Weed, purple and white Asters, and some white Boneset.

A family of Mallards, including nine or ten ducklings, are spending the summer at the pond at the foot of Grant Hill.  Fortunately, the water level is much higher this year than in some previous years.

And now the Search is On ....

... for "Bottle Gentian" and "Indian Pipes!"
