Sunday for Monday

**************************************

From TWCNY on Sunday afternoon:

"Quiet, Milder Start to the Week.
It turned into a nice looking day after some morning clouds and even scattered flurries over the Finger Lakes west of I-81 this morning, but boy was it chilly and blustery Sunday with a gusty northwest wind!  Highs, despite the abundant sunshine this afternoon only managed the low to mid 40s, with wind chills in the 30s.  Tonight will feature a clear to partly cloudy sky with lows in the low to mid 30s for most and a bit of a breeze expected to continue to blow.
High pressure that moved in Sunday will keep us protected to start the new week with sun cloud blend expected.  A brisk west-southwest breeze will blow and help warm us into the 50s for the afternoon.  So definitely feeling more comfortable Monday than Sunday did.
Tuesday will be the warmest day of the week with intervals of sun developing after a mainly gray start, as highs should make the 60s for most!  Tuesday night/early Wednesday, a cold front will swing through with some showers and in it's wake it will turn more seasonable for Wednesday, as we will cool back into the low and mid 50s.
Thursday will start off quiet, but as of now it looks like another storm will take shape to the south and provide us with developing rain showers Thursday.  The storm will intensify and really take shape Friday into Friday night, which will assist in yanking down some colder air that will likely lead to rain changing to a little snow and lake enhanced snow showers later Friday.  "

We've all enjoyed seeing some extraordinarily inventive and expansive Hallowe'en displays throughout the Village, including this, by Matt Jurczak & Co. , which must have been grand to see at night ...........

.......... but Jan Kelley has sent me the following pictures of one group of Hallowe'en scenes that you may not have seen because they are located at the Hoffmeister home, just a little bit out of sight of passersby on Tower Street. (Go in the driveway to Harding Nursing Home to catch a glimpse!)

Now that's another "winner"!
(Thank you, Jan!)

And then we have this .....

....... in a class of its own. You can see right away how much thought and effort went into it!

FOR THE RECORD

In my opinion, this - one of many historical writings in the Waterville Public Library's Electronic Archives - is a "must read" for anyone who lives in the Waterville area!
(Yes - it looks sort-of long, but will really only take a few minutes to read and it's actually interesting!)

The text of a speech given by Amos Osborn (b. 1811), resident historian, lawyer and Renaissance man, of Waterville, to the Oneida County Historical Society, as published in the Waterville Times on October 1, 1886. A brief biography of Mr. Osborn appears at the end of the article.

Now the site of the Waterville Post Office and "Dollar General."

Have a good week, everyone!
