I happened to be at the Car Wash when Tom was putting up Savanna's sign: it was 19 degrees and blowing!
He deserves a Cheer!

It's Garbage Day.
54 degrees and windy at 6:00 a.m.

The TWCNY Weather Forecast:

"Windy and Warm Today, Watching Storm East Wednesday...

A warm front produced a period of rain late last night and very early this morning.  In it's wake, a broad, at times gusty, south-southwesterly flow will blow in near record warmth today!  We should also see some sun develop with just a few spotty sprinkles/shower this morning and again late in the day with a cold front.  Highs today will make the mid to upper 60s for most!!  The record high in Syracuse today is 70° set back in 1931, which will probably be safe, but I don't think we will be too far off that record.  Get out and enjoy it, because late today/early tonight a fast moving cold front will shift the winds to more of a westerly direction, and the air will chill down to more seasonable levels for Tuesday, but at least we will see some sun on Tuesday.  A limited amount of lake rain and snow changing to just snow will develop late tonight into Tuesday east-northeast of Lake Ontario, with minor accumulations of snow expected across the Tughill.  Highs Tuesday will be in the 40s.
Our attention turns to a coastal system on Wednesday and Wednesday night, which could have potential impacts on us locally, and especially for those traveling to the east of Central NY and along the East Coast.  Stay tuned for updates over the next couple of days.  Thanksgiving Day will likely feature some snow, especially later in the day into Thanksgiving night.  A strong cold front will be the culprit for the snow later on Turkey Day, as it will likely zip through with a burst of snow followed by a brief period of lake snow Thanksgiving night into early Friday.  Some at least minor accumulation is probable for Turkey Day through early Friday.  Highs will be in the low to mid 30s Wednesday and Thanksgiving, while we will likely struggle to get out of the 20s Friday with a brisk wind to boot."

Almost Finished!
Cheers to the WCS Art Club, too!

The Fire House is decorated. Watch for the DPW to be putting the huge wreaths on the Victorian Lamp Posts today or tomorrow.

Wreaths for every style!

On East Main Street, refurbishments are moving right along
and it's looking good.

Out next to Osborn Avenue, Snowmobile Trail Markers are up.

IN THE MAIL

From Skip Foppes, this beautifully enhanced photograph of West Main Street before the 1929 fire that destroyed all of the buildings between the brick Candee Block and Big Creek.

Although the Partis Meat Market may have been established in the basement of the corner building in 1906, by the time this picture was taken Mr. Partis had expanded his business and moved to West Main Street.  This, probably, was where the photograph of the "Christmas Display" was taken.

Thank you, Skip!
About the red line: artists and photographers are a bit "touchy" about their work. Embedded watermarks and lines like this are there to preclude reuse of images especially for someone else's financial gain. "Look but don't Lift!"
