It's Recyclables Collection Day
including rigid plastics & electronics.

55.8 degrees and dry at 5:15 a.m.

The TWCNY Weather Forecast:

"Breezy & Comfortable Today, Showers Return

Today be birght, breezy and comfortable with highs in the low/mid 70s.
An area of low pressure looks to brush us to the south heading into Thursday which will return at least some wet weather to the forecast. In addition, it will be unseasonably cool with highs only in the upper 60s.
These cooler temperatures won't stick around for long though and as high pressure tries to regain control on Friday, we'll manage to warm back up into the 70s and eventually into the 80s this weekend."

Waterville Public Library
BOOK DISCUSSION GROUP

This month, the Book Discussion Group will read about
a foundling, an old book of dark fairy tales, a secret garden, an aristocratic family, a love denied, and a mystery.

The Forgotten Garden is a captivating, atmospheric and compulsively readable story of the past, secrets, family and memory from the best selling author Kate Morton.

Reserve a copy of the book by calling
the Waterville Library at 841 4651
and come to the Meeting Room on Wednesday, June 28th,
at 12 noon.

Bring your lunch.  Coffee, tea and dessert will be served.

Miscellany

One day last week I took a friend who is fairly new to this area
(she's only been here for 20 years) for a "ride in the country."
I thought it would be of interest to her to visit Pratt's Hollow - the geographical center of New York State - and see this "famous" building (above.)

How many of you know what it is?

*******************

More recent pictures, closer to home.

This field of drab corn stalks  next to Fuess-Cleary Road has not been "plowed," but from the tire tracks running back and forth along the old rows, it looks as if it has once again been planted using a "no-till" method.

Planted with special care - flowers fill the front porch of a home on Madison Street.

I showed you a picture of the Coffmans' "Swamp Pink" last week, but since then even more blooms have opened .....

...... and now the "rhodies" compete for attention!  This is at the Murphys' on Madison Street.

******

Other flowers to watch for.

Viburnum trilobum or "High Bush Cranberry" ......

......   and grape-like bunches of blossoms on tall Black Locust trees.

There aren't any flowers on this plant, but it's especially important to recognize it and know its name ........

This is Poison Ivy!

Don't touch!!!

And if you do, accidentally, here's advice from WebMD.
