Today is Garbage Day
It's 45.7 degrees at 5:00 a.m.

The morning weather forecast from TWCNY:

"A Quiet Start to the Week, Showers Return Tonight.
It is a chilly start today but highs should end up in the middle and upper 60s during the afternoon. Overall, it will be a rather pleasant day with sun and a few clouds.
Tonight and into Tuesday morning a front will work in from the west which will return scattered showers to the forecast. Those showers look to taper Tuesday afternoon with highs right around the mid 60s.
A weak disturbance may provide a passing shower Wednesday and Thursday; otherwise, we'll just continue to deal with cool conditions the rest of the week as temperatures will be unable to climb out of the 60s."

IN THE MAIL

This grand view of the field of Sunflowers at the corner of
Route 12 and Gorton Lake Road taken by Sharon Stiles.

Worth noting:  in order to take this picture of the 10' - 12' tall plants Sharon climbed first on top of her husband Tom's truck and THEN up a stepladder!
Unfortunately, no one thought to take a picture of her!

Thanks loads, Sharon!

From Lou Langone, this picture of his own home-grown crop of Shitake Mushrooms.

"Eighteen months ago,  my mycology club had a project re: putting Shitake and Oyster spawn in logs.  After eighteen months of the logs in the shade and keeping them moist,   -success.

Nice, delicious, and tender."

(That's grand, Louie!)
