Monday a.m. update

*******

It's Garbage Day.
58 degrees and pleasant at 5:15 a.m.

The TWCNY Weather Forecast:

"Very Warm and Humid today, Showers Return.
Today will be very warm with highs in the 80s and as dew points climb into the 60s, it should start to feel increasingly humid. While an isolated shower or storm cannot be ruled out, it looks like many areas escape the day dry.
Our attention turns to an approaching cold front on Tuesday which will bring with it more numerous showers and storms across Central NY.
Out ahead of this front, it remains warm with highs in the low 80s. Lingering moisture will keep a couple of showers in the forecast Wednesday and temperatures are expected to ease up with highs in the low/mid 70s the rest of the week."

IN THE NEWS

From the Observer-Dispatch.

*****

Here & There on Sunday

Vehicles lined Stafford Avenue and filled both parking lots at
St. Bernard's Catholic Church.

Both sides of East Main Street were lined with cars, too, belonging to parishioners of SouthGate Ministries and the Waterville Baptist Church....

... while a steady stream of shoppers stopped at Morgan's or Main Street Liquors on West Main.

A little after noontime golfers began to gather at the Green Acres Driving Range in Sangerfield and at the Beaver Creek Golf Club a mile or so East on Route 20.

At Chittening Pond, folks enjoyed barbecuing and boating  .....

................. and at the bottom of Grant Hill half-a-dozen ducklings (or are they goslings?) obediently followed their mother away from that suspicious-looking shiney white thing parked next to the road.

How many Wintertime pictures did I take of this stone wall at the top of Grant Hill drifted deep in snow?

Now, the only drifts are those of white Cow Parsley bordering roadsides and hedgerows.

A bit of History

All year 'round, and especially this time of year, folks enjoy walking the woodland trail  around "Dead Pond"
behind the High School.

Did you know that, according to 19th-century historian Amos O. Osborn, it's very possible that
"George Washington Slept Here?"

You can read about Washington's 1783 travels along the "Oneida Path" and see a map of the path next to "Dead Pond" by clicking HERE.

TOMORROW IS "BIG TRASH" PICK-UP!

More miscellany on Wednesday!
