FOR THE RECORD Soon after I posted last Sunday's issue, which included some local history as written in 1886 by Amos O. Osborn, At Home in the Huddle's Facebook page received this note from Delphy Irvin - whose name I had never heard: "Love this blog. I am related to Amos O. Mayer. My mother was Rosalie Randall Rooks. Wish I was old enough to pay attention to the Mayer house when I lived in Waterville." To me, this was a huge treat! I asked a gentleman who had grown up in Waterville if he remembered Delphy, and he said that he did: "She was a very little girl with red hair. Cute as a button!" - and Lynne Tuttle Matteson remembers being her babysitter! I think I've got this worked out: Historian Amos O. Osborn m. Harriet Moss | Dau. Esther Osborn m. W. G. Mayer | Dau. Ada Mayer m. Dr. E. G. Randall (Ada's brother was artist A. Osborn Mayer.) | Rosalie Randall m. Ralph Edward Rooks | Delphy Rooks Irvin the great-great-grandaughter of Amos. O. Osborn (I love genealogy!) Delphy, if you're reading this, please write to me at huddleblogger@aol.com ************************************************ |
