It's Recyclables Collection Day
40 degrees and wet at 5:00 a.m.
Please note: I've loaded today's blog post with activities for the next few days in anticipation of going on an annual day-trek northward in search of a couple of special wildflowers (which actually photograph better in wet weather) and then spending some time visiting friends in that area.
The next blog post will probably be on Friday morning.
I just want you to know that my "absence" does not mean that I am sick! (But I really do appreciate your concern!)

The TWCNY Weather Forecast:
"Breezy, Cool, and Wet at Times Today, Remaining Unsettled through the Weekend
An area of low pressure will continue to plague the region today with spotty showers this morning giving way to steadier showers this afternoon into this evening. It will be breezy with highs only in the lower 50s. There will be periods of rain tonight with lows in the 40s to near 50. Tomorrow will be seasonable with a few breaks of sun mixed in with scattered showers. Highs will be in the low to mid 60s. This area of low pressure will linger through the end of the week with more chances for scattered showers on Friday.
A quick moving system will bring more chances for scattered showers into the weekend with Sunday looking like the drier of the two days. Neither day will be a washout with highs well into the 50s.
High pressure will fairly return with quiet and seasonable weather into the first half of next week."

Here & There
A highly-anticipated annual event!
Daffodils in front of Virginia Keith's home on West Bacon Street.
There's plenty of activity at the new CVS store ...........
...............involving some super-size digging equiment.
Speaking of "super-size," I've heard of "monster truck shows," but this could be a winner at a monster tractor show!
Yesterday was a dank, gray day. "Bloodroot" is just one of the plants whose blossoms would open if only the sun would shine! While I was searching Google for a picture that showed how the plant got its name, I found a delightful website - you might enjoy it, too:

"Fabulous, fun filled, spanning decades and generations and centered on a little known episode of America's 20th Century story, The 'All Girl Filling Station's Last Reunion' is another irresistible novel by the remarkable Fannie Flagg."
In Doris Stephan's E-note to me she wrote, "It is a fictionalized version of some of the women involved in the WASP (Women Air Force Service Pilots) during WW11. They never received the recognition, praise, or benefits they were entitled to. Only in recent times did Congress see fit to acknowledge their service.
Their true story is dramatic enough, but I think Fannie Flagg has done a good job of reminding today's readers of the job these brave women did during the war."

Here's a question from a blog reader who asks for your answers and/or comments:
" 'Bishop's Leaf' (or 'Goutweed') is coming up in my yard and my dog - a little Chiahuahua - LOVES it! But I'm worried because Google says that Goutweed is poisonous to dogs. Does anyone else have trouble with their dog eating it? and what do they do?"
