Delayed a day by last Friday's snowstorm and subsequent school closing, the first round of the Class C Playoffs finally took place on Saturday afternoon. First came the Girls' game with Waterville vs. the Syracuse Academy of Science, and the updates looked like this:

Not long afterward, the Boys' game vs. Lafayette began and the updates sped along:

It's Garbage Day
18.3 degrees ABOVE Zero without any precipitation at 6:30 a.m.

Here is the TWCNY morning Weather Forecast:

"Snow Showers Develop, Some Tricky Travel Tonight/Friday AM

Today there is an area of low pressure working up the East Coast; however, there is still uncertainty as to the exact track of this storm. This system will bring our area widespread snow and lighter accumulations from 81 and points to the west. More eventful snow will fall 81 points to the east. Heaviest snow across the southeastern sections of the state.

By the end of the week we'll have a weaker disturbance push in from the west on Friday with a few scattered snow showers possible.

While temperatures will be more seasonable today and Friday with highs in the upper 20s and low 30s, it's back down into the 20s and teens this weekend.  Scattered snow showers are likely on Saturday with dry weather and sunshine expected Sunday."

For the next few nights we'll be seeing the Full Snow Moon.

From the Farmers' Almanac:  "Since the heaviest snow usually falls during this month, native tribes of the north and east most often called February’s full Moon the Full Snow Moon. Some tribes also referred to this Moon as the Full Hunger Moon, since harsh weather conditions in their areas made hunting very difficult."

While there are still many people who can look at a wint'ry view of Hanover, like this, and declare that "It's so beautiful!" I gather that there is a growing dislike of any forecast that mentions more cold and snow.  And so - for today, at least - there will be no more use of that particular four-letter word!
